YBY1: July 22: Tisha B’Av

This morning we had a late wake up at 9AM  and had a meaningful davening followed by emotional kinot that set us in the mood of the day. After, we had learning groups. Each group got assigned a topic that we are allowed to learn about on Tisha B’Av. We then had a group discussion of what each piece can teach us and why it is allowed to be learned on the day. Then we had lots of rest time with the option to go to chaburas or watch moving movies. After we rested up we davend mincha and heard from Rav Horn from Yishivat Hakotel. Towards the end of the fast we went to a overlook of the old city and sang songs in a circle. We mourned what we are missing while also looking to the future and proposing what we can do to bring the mashiach and the Third Beis Hamikdash. Then we broke our fast at the Israel museum restaurant and broke out into ruach filled songs and dances. We were all thrilled once the fast ended that we were able to listen to none acapella music. After a long and meaningful day we came back to the hotel and had some free time. Today was meaningful and we can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
