YBY1: August 6: Masada, Ein Frashcha, Dead Sea, Bedouin Tents & Army Night!!

At 6:45 in the morning, YBY was up and ready for an action packed day. First up on the schedule, was a trip to the second most visited place in Israel, Masada. We took a cable car up and down the mountain to avoid the evil heat, and learned some interesting stories about what happened at this historic place, hundreds of years ago. Next, we went to a water hole and everyone enjoyed a nice swim in the cool water. The next stop on our busy day was the Dead Sea; which was the only place where we have been allowed to break dress code, due to the large mechitza going all the way into the water (separate beaches). After experiencing the salty effects of the water, we made our way down to the Bedouin tents. First we settled our stuff in the tents and then ate dinner. Following dinner we learned about the Bedouin life and about the importance of coffee in their culture. Last on the schedule for the day was army night, where the counselors enjoyed screaming as our unit leaders and making us do many push ups. After this “intense” night activity we got to enjoy a nice bonfire and the latest curfew we’ve had so far, 2AM!!
