YBY1: August 3: Yom Hachanich & Visitors Night!

Today was a relaxed but extremely fun day! It was Yom Hachanich where all of the counselors (besides the head staff and medic) take some time off during the day and the participants run Yad B’Yad for the day. We spent many nights planning for this awesome day. The day consisted of many fun activities and some chill time, all in the wonderful hotel of Ramat Rachel. We started the day with late wakeup and an outside breakfast. There were four teams: Aladdin, Lion King, Moana, and Frozen. We decorated cakes, played Jeopardy, and had a basketball tournament before lunch. Today was Nathan Benizri’s birthday so we all celebrated with him and ate lots of chocolate chip cookies for national chocolate chip cookie day! We had an incredible apache race which consisted of many small tasks that everyone was eager to finish first. Our watermelon eating challenge took a while and got a bit messy, but it was worth it for the delicious watermelon. We had some free time to rest and hang out with friends before our final presentations. Each team presented a lip sync to a song from their movie, a dvar torah, a parody of a song from their movie, and a funny top five list. It was extremely fun to watch the final presentations and feel the great accomplishments of the day. And the winner is… purple team aka Aladdin!!!! Movielympics was a great success!! We were extremely excited to see our counselors at the end of the day. We then had a visitors night in which some people went out with their visitors while others spent time at the mall. Overall, today was a jam-packed and super fun!!

Best,

The Yom Hachanich Head Staff
