YBY1: August 10: Volunteering, Dialogue in the Dark & Invitation to Silence and YOM YACHAD!!

Thursday morning arrived, and with that wake up, davening and breakfast. Once we headed onto the buses we set off for our volunteering part of the day. We arrived at the mini electrical-engineering factory, where we helped out with some of the the tasks that they were doing. The factory employs people who are blind.

Following, we ate lunch outside of the deaf museum and dialogue in the dark until it was time for each group to experience these special places. Although most of the tour guides were on vacation, we still managed to have a very meaningful time.

The next item on the itinerary was one that a lot of participants were eagerly awaiting… Yom Yachad. Greeted by YBY trip 2 as we arrived, as soon as we got off the buses, the singing and dancing immediately begun. However dinner came first and both trips enjoyed freshly made pizza cooked in front of our very own eyes. The post dinner entertainment included speeches from participants of both trips, a flash mob and video stars. We ended Yom Yachad with an amazing lit concert from the Moshav Band, and by the time it ended we were all exhausted. Tomorrow will be our final shabbos on Yad B’Yad, and we can’t wait for it to be a special one!
