Friday was a very relaxing day after a busy week. We spent a lot of the time on the bus sleeping, schmoozing and listening to music. To break up the ride, we went to the Weitzman Science Center in Rechovot. At the park we were able to understand and appreciate the science behind simple things such air, waves, swings, weight, sand and so much more. After a yummy schnitzel lunch we stopped at a huge supermarket to stock up on snacks for Shabbos. After another long bus ride we arrived at the Masada guest house and quickly got ready for Shabbos. We were surprised by the insanely hot weather (115 degrees!!). We had a beautiful Kabbalas Shabbas filled with Rauch, singing, and dancing, after which the theme of Shabbas was introduced- heroes. We were able to learn about leadership and what it means to be a role model to others throughout Shabbas from the informative cards at meals, learning sessions and chaburot. After Friday night dinner, we had a circle time with cheering and a ton of snacks. During Shacharis we celebrated Chaim Nachman’s, our Israeli medic and tour guide, “bar mitzvah”, during which he lained and we threw taffies at him. After lunch we had circle time, where we learned new games and some (interesting) Canadian cheers. During the afternoon menucha we had the opportunity to attend various chaburas given by our counselors, and were able to hang out and Nosh. At the end of menucha, group one led us in human guess who. After shalush shudos we had an inspiring havdalah with slow shira to Jesse and Ari’s guitar playing. Elana arranged aawesome night activity- human apples to apples! All campers and counselors played the role of a red apples to apples card, competing to be the best candidate for the green card. We finished off the exciting day with midnight pizza, which was a great surprise. We went back to our rooms and easily fell asleep after packing up.
Peace from the Middle East,
