What’s up everyone, It’s Megan, Tali and Zack here with a daily report on what YBY trip 1 is up to.
When I first entered YBY I didn’t know what to expect! Since it began I feel like my whole life has changed and I literally feel like a different person. I have a ton of new friends and with a new perspective of who I really am as a human being. All the participants and counselors are great and very understanding of everyone needs. I love Yad B’Yad! Thank you so much to Rebecca for creating awesome activities and for organizing this amazing program for all of us!
We started the day off with a steep but slow cable ride at the Rosh Hanikra water tunnels where they say you can “still here a bride’s scream.” We got to see the grottoes. They say these caves are where the sea hits the rocks. Next we got back on the bus and went to a kibbutz for lunch. We got to go to the local market and eat homemade pizza with a ton of different toppings. While at the market many people bought food and drinks for the soldiers we visited at an army base after lunch. The soldiers seemed very happy to see us. They were all very welcoming and excited to explain what each weapon does. We also heard about what the Israeli soldiers do in the army and it sounded scary yet interesting at the same time.
While at the army base we also got to complete the photo Buch challenge. The basic idea of the challenge is to get out favorite soldier Buch (camp counselor) to take pictures with other soldiers. After going to the army base I felt this feeling of endless gratitude. It felt amazing that I finally was able to say a big thank you and not just in my heart or soul but in person. In life we need to remember what we have. We need to be thankful for what we have and to remember the good and bad times so it was great to be able to say thank you. We must remember that life can be difficult but we always have to try to be respectful to others. We have to realize how privileged we are to be on YBY. We need to be respectful to our counselors who work so hard for us even if we don’t realize it. We have to start thinking about how we can make this summer the best summer ever, we can do this by thinking about how privileged we all really are. We hope everyone continues to have an amazing summer!!
