July 13, 2015: Touchdown in Israel, Olive Presses, & Chispin
Hello! K-Dawg and E-Dawg here today. We really started the day 24 hours ago when we were getting ready to start our Israel journey. Towards the end of the flight we were eager and enthusiastic to finally be home! As we got off the plane we were greeted with signs and singing from our Israeli staff. Since we reached Israel, we have learned so much about our homeland. We even learned the word Sabbabbah in Hebrew. Right after getting our luggage we davened and met 2 new participants, Ayelet and Mattitia. It was really great to finally meet them! Following that we headed outside to eat some holy bagel’s in the holy land, which by the way were incredible. We then hopped on the buses headed towards Chispin in the north. Within five minutes of the drive almost everyone was fast asleep. Once we arrived at Chispin11700663_849961255081262_4465067791829932820_o we unpacked the buses, davened mincha, and scouted out the place. The view was beyond gorgeous!!! After such a long and exciting day we were all jetlagged and very exhausted. All we wanted to do was curl up in a ball and sleep. But with our last bit of energy we went to an oil factory where we learned how olive oil is made and what to do with the extra parts of the olive not used for olive oil. We got the greatest opportunity to actually try all the different types of creams and products produced from olives. We got creative and smeared it all over our hands and face. Once we washed it off, our skin was as soft as a baby’s butt. We then went into the bread tasting room. There were all different types of olive oils and spices. They all tasted so fresh and we were able to have as much as we wanted which was a plus. When we got back to Chispin we saw our friends from other programs and showed them the YBY inclusive ways. It was a great day of bonding and an amazing 1st day in Eretz Yisroel. We can’t wait for tomorrow and the days to follow!! TTYL!!
