July 1-2, 2016: YBY1 Orientation Shabbos!

Friday, July first was the first day of Yad Byad 2016 Trip 1! We got off the bus and started dancing and singing in a circle. Then we greeted Shabbos with open arms and davened with passion. We moved into Lail Shabbos dinner with amazing soup and chicken! Then it was time for Circle Time and we learned lots of Torah, new games and songs. This moved into a meaningful zemirot session. And it was time for curfew!

Shabbos, July 2 was our second day of Yad B’Yad! We woke up to daven a heartfelt shacharit, with Yehoshua Fineberg as chazan! We were all starving so we scarfed down a quick kiddish and celebrated Talia Gritzman’s birthday! This got us through learning groups, where we learned all about the meaning of simcha! Then the best part of the morning happened: lunch! We were treated to tasty chulent and more chicken, with board game-themed icebreakers to top it off! During the following hours of menucha many staff members, including Amitai, Jeremy and Jacob, taught optional learning groups on a range of topics, from Tzitzis to how to view Scientology! We followed this up with a wonderful oneg and a game of Musical Memory! We davened a strong mincha and moved into Seudat Shlishit. With Moshe at the helm, we had a spiritual havdalah and even more dancing! After this long day we sat down with our attendance groups and played Panopoly, where we rushed to complete the tasks in time! Five minutes later, it was time for curfew! Thanks Morris Sitt for planning Panopoly! We all had an awesome time!! Looking forward to having more fun this summer with everyone!
