Words of the Wise

At mishmar, vocational workers are given the opportunity to share words of Torah with the group in addition to hearing a short shiur.

This week’s parsha talks about making promises. When you make a promise, the Torah says you must keep it. Why is it so important to keep your promise? There are two reasons; because of Hashem and because of you. Over and over again throughout the Torah we learn that Hashem is true to His word. Though we cannot compare ourselves to Hashem, we try to act like Him as much as possible. On this level, we must keep our promises to be in the likeness of Hashem. On a second level, we must keep promises for ourselves. A person can only create bonds and friendships where there is trust. This is what brings people together. If we continue to trust each other and rely one ach other, we will continue to make bonds and soon mashiach will come and the beit ha’mikdash will be rebuilt. May we continue to keep our promises, create bonds and celebrate this tisha ba’av rather than be sad. Looking forward to another fun, exciting and gainful week at Morasha Yachad!
