On Monday, we divided up new jobs and everyone worked hard that day.
On Tuesday, we had a very special day out. After doing morning snack, we left camp and headed to bowling in Fairlawn. We were in 2 teams and had a blast, especially when they turned out the lights and used spotlights and the room was filled with fluorescent color. Then we went to lunch in Teaneck and ended the trip with a shopping spree at Costco where we bought snacks for a new staff canteen that we opened this week. Each day the canteen is manned by different members of the group and we have done lots of selling. Any profits we make will be donated towards the Yachad scholarship fund. The staff loves being able to buy delicious treats at very reasonable prices!
On Wednesday, the group was particularly helpful in the Melechet Yad (Art) departments. There are many projects that have to be prepared ahead of time for 450 campers and we were really able to help with that.
Thursday was a day we allowed ourselves some fun and around the work we had to do, we were able spend time making our own art projects which were planters. Those will come home soon. It was a great way for us to spend our ‘down’ time. We also had a super circle time discussion lead by Robin all about patience and doing things outside one’s comfort zone.
Finally, today we enjoyed ‘fun friday’. We had an opportunity to enjoy a session of Lego robotics. We watched a play put on by one of the groups of kids.
We also made our weekly staff treat to say thanks where we made and distributed chocolate covered pretzels.
All in all a wonderful week!
Wishing you all a shabbat shalom!
