What an exciting week at MBNJ Yachad! On Tuesday the camp needed help preparing hundreds of deli sandwiches for all the campers. We buckled down and created a great assembly line! We made hundreds of deli sandwiches for all the campers in less than 20 minutes. We came together as a team and were able to accomplish a lot together. After working very hard, we went to lunch at EJ’s and had a great time. Everyone at Ej’s knows us by now. Then we rushed back and met with Moshava IO Yachad where we had a wonderful time meeting the staff. We also had a goodbye party for Meir, and we hope that he has the best experience at Morasha! Everyone especially enjoyed baking challah at Afiya this week. The amazing week culminated with celebrating Shmaya’s birthday with bagels and cream cheese for everyone. We had a wonderful week and we hope everyone is getting excited for Six Flags next week! Wishing you all an amazing Shabbos, Sara
Weekly Dvar Torah : Parshat Pinchas
It is stated in the Living Emunah guide book that when one sacrifices for the sake of a mitzvah he or she gets rewarded with the very thing they lost, and in greater quantity. An example of this is in Parshat Pinchas. Pinchas was the grandson of Aharon the Kohen and was not a Kohen, yet got rewarded by becoming one after killing Zimrei and Cuzbie in the sake of stopping the plague that affected the Jews. Pinchas risked both his life and hopes of being a Cohen by doing this act. Yet, as a result G-d rewarded him with both an everlasting covenant of peace and with the Priesthood. In fact, Chazal say that Pinchas lives internally as Eliyahu Hanavi. So if you have an opportunity to do a courageous and noble act in the sake of a mitzvah don’t be afraid of any negative result, just do what is right.
