MBNJ Week 5
MBNJ Week 5

Well, my fifth and final week is over and I can hardly believe it.  It’s been such a super and productive summer and I am so proud of the accomplishments of our amazing Yachad team.  Luckily they are in fantastic hands now for the remainder of camp and I thank Leora Verbit for taking the reigns to finish things off.

This week was its usual fun and we had many fun and memorable moments including circle time, launching a food drive with the oldest division of kids, Gan chayot, bishul, being art assistants etc…  For me, going out to lunch with the group on Wednesday was the most fun.  There  we spent time reflecting on our successes this summer and each participant was asked to share their favorite moments and experiences in camp.  I think it’s safe to say that everyone feels that they have grown including myself and the job coaches.   We have been able to be helpful and make a difference in camp and if I was to pick one word to describe where the group most improved it would be with ‘initiative’.  Everyone has improved greatly in learning how to be most useful and if things are quiet in one place then to go somewhere else to help.  That’s really using our initiative in the most valuable way.

On Friday everyone  surprised me with a beautiful and delicious ice cream cake and a signed t-shirt.  I will really miss everyone but can assure you that they are in excellent hands with Leora going forward.  I really want to thank my job coaches Eliran, Shmaya and Robin for helping me make this summer a success because I most certainly couldn’t have done it alone.

So for me for now I say farewell and I look forward to hearing about the successes of each participant for the remainder of camp as well as all year long.

Shabbat shalom,

Elisheva
