MBNJ Voc 2017 - Week 5

HIGHLIGHTS

Time is really flying by, we are already at the end of week 5 at camp! We had another fun week at MBNJ. This week is Chesed Week at camp, so Monday afternoon we helped Aidot (divisions) Aleph and Bet make small bags filled with food that were given to JFS (Jewish Family Service) to be used for their food bank. The campers decorated their bags and we helped them pack every bag with a bag of chips and a juice box. After a full day of work on Tuesday and a busy morning on Wednesday, we took a break and went out to lunch. We went to Sammy’s in Teaneck where we enjoyed pizza and fries. We got back to camp in time to pass out everyone’s favorite snack–ice cream. We were also able to enjoy some ourselves!! This week we spent extra time helping Moadon (Arts & Crafts) finish up their projects and laminate them and also organizing the lost & found to make if easier for everyone to look through. We are looking forward to our trip next Wednesday to Camp Nesher for Yom Nate B’Yachad. It promises to be a fun and relaxing day for everyone! Hope everyone has a great shabbas and an easy and meaningful fast this Tuesday. -Noah

DVAR TORAH: PARSHAT DEVARIM By Avrumi Kalikstein

Moshe speaks to Bnai Yisroel in this parsha, and he tells them that Hashem wanted them to leave Har Sinai. Why did Hashem want them to leave? Isn’t it really wonderful to stay at Har Sinai where they got the Torah and learned so much? Har Sinai was an amazing place and it was important for Bnei Yisrael to become a nation there. But they could not stay there forever. They had to take what they learned and use it in the real world, especially as a nation in the land of Israel. We can compare this to the day of Yom Kippur. It is necessary once a year to put oneself on a high spiritual level, but once the day is over we have to go out into the real world. In our own lives it is very important to always take what we learned and use it in the real world and use it to help others and make the world a better place.
