Moshava Malibu: Week 1 2015
Moshava Malibu: Week 1 2015

We had a great first week at Moshava Malibu! It is so exciting to be the first campers in the Dovid Oved Retreat Center, Moshava’s permanent home. The campsite is beautiful! There are so many amazing things to see and do!

We arrived at camp and the anticipation could be felt from the minute we drove through the gates. As we stepped off the bus, we were greeted by all of our counselors and staff members. We all gathered with our eidot (divisions) and played some icebreakers. We finished off the day with our first mifkad (the time when the camp comes together to sing the camp song, Hatikva, and the Bnei Akiva anthem).

This first week was filled with so many of our favorite activities as well as some new ones. We got to let our athletic sides shine while we played soccer, basketball, football, gaga and so many other sports! Our creativity truly came out during drama, music and melechet yad (art). We had so many new adventures like climbing high at ropes, petting animals at teva (nature) and shooting arrows at archery. After so many fun activities, we were so happy to cool down in the pool. We have really enjoyed getting to know our bunkmates and making so many new friends.

KAYTANA: KAY-TA-NA! We had such a fun first week at camp! We did so many fun activities like improv at drama, learning a dance to “Let it Go” from Frozen, and playing with the goats at the petting zoo! We were so lucky to be able to go up at Mifkad, in front of the whole camp, and help lead a special cheer! We can’t wait to see what amazing things are in store for us next week!

ALEPH: What an incredible first week of camp! We really enjoyed getting to know our bunkmates and learning all the new activities in camp. Even after a day full of so many fun peulot (activities), we were so excited to have so many fun night tochniot (night activites) as well! On Tuesday night we got to play a fun “twist” on a classic game: Paint Twister! By the end of the night, our right hands were red and out left feet were green. We had such a messy and crazy time time! On Wednesday we had another super fun night. We split up into groups and searched around to find our counselors in a counselor scavenger hunt! Thankfully we found everyone and were so happy to be reunited as a full bunk! YACHAD YEDIOT Updates from Moshava Malibu

BET: “B! E! T! BET’S WHAT YOU WANT TO BE!” This week has been full of so many awesome activities! During the day we experienced all the activities that camp has to offer. The camp is filled with fun things to do at every moment! On Tuesday night we went on such an adventure: The Amazing Race! We ran around camp and gathered envelopes full of clues. We can’t wait to see what the winning team will get! On Wednesday our busy day didn’t end when the stars came out. Eidot Bet, Gimmel and Daled all gathered for our lina, where we slept outside under the stars. We all brought our sleeping bags, pillows, and flashlights to the soccer field. We sat around the “camp fire” and sang songs, told stories and ate smores. After such a fun night we laid our heads down on our pillows under the stars and fell fast asleep! Good thing we got such good night’s sleep because the rest of the week was full of so much excitement!

DALED: Lights, Camera, Action! On Tuesday night we had the opportunity to learn how to make YouTube videos. Each group got a camera to make a video about the fun things we do in camp! We can’t wait for all the fun things the rest of the summer has in store for us! ATTEN-TION! This Thursday night we all put on all black, and camouflage and joined the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). A real IDF officer led us through different training activities. We were really put to the test and by the end we really felt like we were a part of the Israeli army! After going through training, we went on a short night hike. After so much activity, we were all ready for our beds!

MACHAL: What a crazy fun week we’ve had at camp! On Monday night we all camp together on the soccer field for a fun icebreaker where we introduced each other and learned a fun chant. Wednesday was a day filled with preparations for our first trip! We each got a hat with our names on them to wear on our trips! But we didn’t just color on them, we played “hat speed dating.” We each asked someone a question about themselves and drew the answer on their hats. It was a great way to get to know each other and prepare for our night out! From surfing, to biking, to hiking and camping out, our trip was filled with so much adventure and group bonding! What a fun first trip we had filled with new activities, bonding and adventures! Machal is the best and we are so excited for the rest of our summer!

We can’t wait to see what next week has in store for us!
