Final Update from Moshava Malibu Yachad!
Final Update from Moshava Malibu Yachad!

What a spectacular last week of camp! This week was filled with our favorite activities, fun trips, and ending the summer in the best way with our amazing friends and counselors.

This past Wednesday we went on a special trip! In the morning we packed up lunches, got in the car and drove down the mountain for a super fun day. We started off the day at Boomers and went straight to the Go-Karts. We loved zooming around the track, twisting and turning. We had such a blast the first time that we had to go again! Afterwards, we each got our tokens and went into the giant arcade. We played games like Ski Ball, Air hockey, Dance Dance Revolution and more! We got so many tickets; it was hard to pick our prizes! After Boomers, we headed to Coffee Bean where we all enjoyed a sweet treat! We also got a surprise cookie for our counselor Yishai to celebrate his 18th birthday. Next, we were excited to relax at the movies. We had a choice of either “Inside Out” or ” Minions.” No matter which movie we saw, we all laughed and had a great time! It was a fantastic day but we were excited to get back to camp and get a good night’s sleep for our last few days of camp!

On Thursday night we had an amazing concert by Eitan Katz!! The music was incredible, the dancing spectacular and the smiling uncontrollable. We danced so much we thought we would never be able to stop!  After the music slowed down we all sat arm in arm and sang together in a kumsitz and listened to amazing stories from Eitan Katz. It was the best way to bring us into our last Shabbat of camp.

This past Shabbat was our last Shabbat at camp :(. As always we put on our blue and white and gathered on the soccer field for mifkad. We sang the songs that used to be new to us, but now we know so well. We had a beautiful davening filled with singing and dancing! On Saturday night we had an amazing havdallah with singing and instruments. It was so nice to stand outside with the candle lit singing together one last time. We will really miss Shabbat in camp.

KAYTANA : We had a great last week of camp in Kaytana! The week started off a little sad when we had to say goodbye to Eyal, our Rosh Eidah, we miss him so much! But when Eyal left we got a chance to get to know Tova, our new Rosh Eidah! She fit perfectly into our Eidah, it was like she had been there the whole time! Our last week was filled with so many awesome activities. On Wednesday night we all painted our faces like dogs to play… BINGO!! We had so much fun! At our end of summer banquet we each got a clipboard with our bunk picture on it. All of our friends and counselors signed the back of them. It was so great and we can’t wait to look at them during the year and remember all the good times we had at camp!

ALEPH: It was an amazing last week of camp. We started off the week a little messy with Paint Dodgeball – whoever is the most colorful loses! We had so much fun playing boys against girls. By the end of the night we were all multicolored (and so were our counselors). Our end of summer banquet was so exciting! We all out on our pajamas and party hats and had a party! We each got awards from our counselors and Laura, our Rosh Eidah. It was so great to hang out and remembering all the fantastic times we had this summer.

BET: What an awesome last week at camp we had. We started off the week letting our musical sides shine during a lip sync battle! We all picked our favorite songs and sang them – by only mouthing! It was so fun watching everyone, we all laughed so hard. Our fun nights didn’t end there. We also played an intense game of capture the flag. It was so cool putting on all black and finding the other team’s flag! On Sunday we had a special treat – we got to go on an amazing hike near camp! It was so nice hiking together, seeing the beautiful scenery and hanging out as an Eidah. For our end of summer banquet it only felt right that we had a family reunion, since we have all gotten so close it feels like a real camp family. It was so great spending one last night together reminiscing about the crazy fun we had this summer.

DALED: We had such a fantastic last week!! For a night activity we all got cozy and watched “The Truman Show.” It was such a funny movie and an even more fun time hanging out together. On Sunday morning we had a special treat. We woke up late, davened and started to head to the Chadar Ochel (dining room) for breakfast. We soon found out we weren’t eating there. Our counselors had woken up early, made us breakfast and set it up on the porch! We had a Daled Brunch Banquet. It was the perfect way to end the summer. We sat around eating breakfast, laughing and talking about all the fun things we did this summer as an Eidah. After our brunch we had to say goodbye to Joel, our Rosh Eidah Joel who had to leave early. We were so sad to see him go! On Monday night the girls surprised their counselors with a funny song about each of them. We laughed so hard and it was the best way to spend the last night at camp.

MACHAL: Machal had an OUTSTANDING adventure filled last week of camp!!! On Monday we packed up for three days of intense hiking, bonding and growing! We went on an amazing 3-day overnight in the beautiful Joshua Tree National Park. We pitched our own tents, toured ancient Native American caves to see their amazing wall art, toured a hidden valley, climbed on rock formations and chowed down on Nutella sandwiches. By the end of our 17-mile journey, we were exhausted, exhilarated, and bonded like no group has ever bonded before! Over this past summer we have become such a close-knit Eidah. On Sunday one of our fellow Machal campers gave us a special presentation on living life with selective mutism. It was so moving to hear his thoughts and learn more about it. We felt privileged and appreciative that he felt close enough to us to open up about something so personal. We left the session feeling educated, closer and more open-minded. It was the perfect way to end an amazing Machal summer of bonding, growing and leadership training.

On Monday morning our unbelievable summer came to an end. We packed up our bags, and prepared to leave our home away from home. The goodbyes were tearful, but we know the friendships we made are so special that they will never end. No matter where we live or where our future takes us, we will always remember the friends we made, the fun we had, and the goals we accomplished in Moshava Malibu 2015. We are so sad to leave camp and we are already counting down the days until Moshava Malibu 2016!

Thank you all for an incredible summer! Don’t forget to check out the last of our pictures on our Facebook page!
