Getaway 2017 Week 1

Welcome! Thank you for reading our newsletter! We are so excited about all the things we have already done, and we want YOU to learn more about what we do every day! If you would like to see more photos of the group please visit Yachad.org/getaway

Day One: we were so excited to finally arrive at Grace Manor for the start of Getaway, sure to be an awesome two weeks! We got a chance to meet all our new friends with Ice Breakers and Getting to know you games. After dinner, we got to go check out our new rooms and spend some time getting to know our roommates. We all went to sleep excited about what day two had in store.

Day Two: We started of our second day with a group game of kickball in the field. After, we decorated signs for our rooms. After lunch, we headed off to our first trip, Bailiwick Animal Discovery Center. We got a chance to feed the birds, meet an American Black Bear, and see animals like camels, zebras, and kangaroos. We finished off our night with a group game of Human Bingo.

Day Three: We woke up to a beautiful day perfect for a Hawaiian themed day at Getaway! We played “beach” volleyball and luau games, like limbo and coconut bowling. We had a wonderful time at the pool, which was followed by watercolor paint arts and crafts. Before dinner, we played luau freeze dance, where everyone got to show off their best dance moves. We finished our day with movie-night activity, Disney’s Moana.

Day Four: We embarked on our second trip of Getaway, Six Flags Great Escape in Lake George. Everyone had a thrilling day going on so many exciting rides, like the Runaway Train, Merry Go Round, and some rollercoasters. We finished off our day with an awesome barbecue dinner. Tired from all the day’s fun, everyone hit the hay after dinner

Day Five: We are so excited to spend our first Shabbat at Getaway together! We started our day with a great game of soccer. We also enjoyed time at the pool with our friends. For our arts and crafts activity, we made Shabbat-o-grams, wishing everyone a great Shabbat! After, we decorated the dining room for Shabbat. Shabbat shalom from the Yachad Getaway 2017! Over and out!
