YBY2: July 6-7: YBY Begins & Shabbos in Edison, NJ!!

YBY started in Edison on Friday! We played a bunch of different ice breakers and had pizza for lunch. We then got into our attendance groups and went bowling which was super fun and a great way to meet new people! After bowling we had a fun bus ride back to shul, then went to our respective hosts for shabbos. After a spiritual davening, we played games to find out our seats for dinner. After a delicious dinner, we had our very first Yad B’Yad “circle time” where we learned a bunch of new cheers and sang some fan favorites. After an early curfew we headed back to our hosts for a good night sleep. In the morning we enjoyed davening and kiddish. We split into learning groups and learned about how little actions can make a big difference. Just like licking the cream of an ores takes a lot of patience, so too we need patience when achieving a goal. The theme of shabbos was the World Cup. Sticking with the theme, in finding your table for lunch, you had to speak in your countries accent to find your group. After another “circle time” we had menucha where we played games like waah and anomia and some took walks or napped. After menucha we headed to the Weizers for an oneg where we ate snacks, hung out and played games. Then we headed back to shul for mincha and seudat shlishit where Dovie Levinson spoke about our mission statement. After maariv and havdala, we played a fun game of panoply and had a Melava Malka. We then headed back to our hosts for a good morning sleep before our flight to Israel!
