YBY2: July 31: Hashaar Lenegev, Hashomer Hachadash & Bedouin Tents!
YBY2: July 31: Hashaar Lenegev, Hashomer Hachadash & Bedouin Tents!

We woke up bright and early to daven and eat breakfast before we packed up to leave Eilat. Our first stop was Hashaar Lenegev visitor center which taught us about the agriculture of Israel. We had delicious schnitzel sandwiches for lunch then got back on the bus for a long bus ride. We then got to Hashomer Hachadash which is a kibbutz with an olive orchard and volunteers that watch the land. We pruned olive trees while we listened to music and had fun. After a long day of farming we finally arrived at the Bedouin tents! We got there just in time for dinner where we sat in the floor and ate with our hands, Bedouin style. After dinner we met with a Bedouin who taught us about his culture and served us tea and coffee. We then practiced out flash mob for Yom Yachad and had a bonfire where we roasted marshmallows and sang. Some people star gazed where a shooting star was spotted, while others chilled by the fire. Then, everyone settled into the tents for a good night sleep on the floor. We can’t wait to wake up to a Bedouin breakfast!
