YBY2: July 12: Groovster, Katzrin, Jeeping & Grannie’s Candies!

We started off our amazing day with a nutritious breakfast and uplifting davening. We went to Groovster where we tie-dyed shirts for Yom Yachad. A delicious buffet lunch of schnitzel, falafel, grilled chicken and shwarma was served. After lunch, we split up by bus. One group went Jeeping in the Golan heights near the Syrian border, where we stopped at a tank near minefields and and heard about the Syrian conflict. We enjoyed watermelon and explored a tank used in the Yom Kippur War. Meanwhile, the other group went to Katzrin, which is an ancient city remade to show how life was back then. We made pitas and saw an ancient olive press. A video was shown about Rebbe Meir and Rebbe Akiva. After an already full day, we came back to the hotel for our first round of laundry. After dinner, we played Grannie’s Candies where we searched the grounds of the hotel for balloons to help granny reclaim her famous candy recipe,  which the counselors were holding. We chilled till curfew and can’t wait for tomorrow and our first Shabbat in Israel!
