YBY2: August 5: Pat Bamelach,The Gush Etzion Heritage Center & Kever Rachel!

We all woke up so excited for our second to last day in Israel! After davening and breakfast we loaded the buses to go to Pat Bamelach, which is a bakery started by Harry’s dad’s old friend. We made hot pretzels made only from flour water and salt! We topped them off with some cinnamon and sugar or salt and really enjoyed our tasty snack! After that, we went to a museum called, “The Gush Etzion Heritage Center.” There we watched multiple movies about the fall of כפר עציון during the war in 1948. We even saw the actual bunker where this took place which was bombed and many Jews died as a result of this. It was a very interesting story, but also very sad. Fortunately, this area was later conquered by Israel again and many people live there currently. We then had delicious mini pizzas for lunch on a grassy area where people hung out and played frisbee. Then we went to Kever Rachel where we said tehillim and davened. Following that we came back to the hotel to prepare for our talent show night activity, group presentations at banquet, and started packing our bags until dinner. After dinner we began the talent show where people sang, danced, wiggled their ears and did sign language. We also learnt an alma mater song about YBY written by Julia, Aliza and Miri which was a really nice recap of our summer together. We then hung out until our late curfew, getting ready for banquet and hanging out as our last night as a full group. We’re so excited and sad for an amazing final day tomorrow!
