YBY2: August 3: Ammunition Hill, Archaeological Dig, Friday Night Overlooking the Kotel!

We were woken up bright and early for a day in Jerusalem. After davening and breakfast we boarded the buses and went to Ammunition Hill. We saw the location of the fighting during the Six Day War where a few participants put on a skit about the war. People ran through the bunkers and explored the tanks and took cool pictures. We also watched a very interesting movie about what happened there. We then went sifting at an archaeological dig place. There we found pottery, bones, and mosaics dating back to the time of the Temple. Then we went to a park to have lunch which consisted of bagels, salads, and muffins. We then went to the supermarket for the last time to buy goodies for Shabbos. We then went back to the hotel to get ready for Shabbos. Then we got on our buses to the old city for a beautiful davening overlooking the Kotel! This week’s theme was reflections so we sat at tables relating to places we went on our trip together. We ate and sang zemirot and then walked back to our hotel for two hours. The long walk gave us time to bond, digest, and enjoy Shabbos in Jerusalem. We got back late and all went straight to sleep.
