Day Twelve: Tuesday, July 23rd: Volunteering, Tzfat Tour, and Stam Center!

Hi this is Tani Sabo, Ziggy Gelman, and Ella Osen.

Today we went to Tzfat. The day began by volunteering at the Ethiopian absorption center, there we were given the opportunity to connect and build friendships with new Olim from Ethiopia. Bus 2 played with the kids in bubbles, Ella made 300 friendship bracelets, and Bus 1 had a fun time at a different absorption center. On the way to lunch, we experienced the most authentic form of travel through the very, very narrow streets of Tzfat. We had the option to go to many different restaurants with vouchers that gave us different options of food. Ziggy and I proceeded to eat some amazing sandwiches. After, we went on a pretty sweaty walking tour. After a rather riveting tour, the group had the opportunity to walk around the Artists’ Colony. After that we got back on the bus and we headed over to the STAM Center where we learned about the making of mezuzot, tefillin, and Torah scrolls. There we all basked in the glow of the beautiful AC unit and we learned as well. We had the opportunity to write as a scribe does, we weren’t amazing but we did our best! We also watched a movie that had quite the musical number at the end and let me tell you – some of us danced! Specifically, Efraim did a quadruple backflip. After returning to our hotel, we davened Mincha, had dinner and played a great game of Capture the Counselor. All in all, a great day in the holy city of Tzfat!
