Today we started off our wonderful day by going to Latrun, an outdoor museum showcasing old tanks that were in battle. At Latrun, we heard the personal story of our Israeli staff member Peleg who was in a tank unit. He told us what it was like to work in a tank and the different hardships soldiers in a tank face. After the museum we got back onto the buses and went to the Azriel mall in Tel-Aviv for lunch. After lunch, one bus went went to an accessible park called Park Chaverim. At this park there were all types of things that kids with different levels of abilities can play on together. While one bus did this, the other bus went to a deaf museum called Invitation to Silence. Then the first bus joined them and we ate a pasta dinner together. Then the first bus took turns going into the museum and everyone had an amazing time (and the other group had a great time at the park). When we got inside we had an introduction to what we will see and feel. We were then handed headphones and were introduced to our tour guide who is deaf. During the experience we learned how to communicate without using our speech or hearing. We used facial expressions and learned some Israeli sign language. Overall it was an amazing experience and an awesome day as usual.
