Hi all, it’s Malka and Jonah here. Sorry if this isn’t written with the greatest grammar, we are still recovering from Thursdays 6:15AM wake up. But have no fear folks because the day was action packed with tons of life altering activities!!!! So anyways, once we were woken (unfortunately not early enough for vasikin) we had a meaningful davening led by The Chazan. Baruch HaShem as a part of a new YBY initiative, we all had the privilege to recite the first passage of shema b’yachad (together) in unison. After Davening, we had a lavish breakfast, with all our favorite lunch foods because yes here in Israel they don’t know of pancakes, waffles and or cereal. We then drove to Kikar Rabin, the place where prime minister Yitzchak Rabin was shot, in Tel-Aviv. While there, we spoke with natives about where they were when Rabin was shot and what memories and feelings they have about that time. After that, we went to a factory that employs people who were blind, deaf, and/or mute. We helped these workers complete their work for the day. Finally Yad B’Yad trip two took their vast amount of ruach and pep to the street of Emek Refaim (valley of refaim). On emek we had the opportunity to make our own pizzas and also make for the wonderful soldiers who protect our medina every single day (stay tuned for what happens with the pizzas). Following the pizza, us participants were given the rare opportunity to wander around the valley, under the careful watch of our dedicated staff members (shout out to group 4 staff Isaac and Izzy!). Some people bought, let’s say their 4th rebar of the week while others were more frugal and went with a simple fuze. If you read previously about our making of pizza, now is when we will continue to tell you about what happened. We drove to an army base to deliver the pizza we made. While there, the soldiers were hesitant to take the pizza due to security reasons. Long story short, they accepted and enjoyed our pizza. Baruch HaShem once we returned to our hotel after a long, hard, tiring day we had yet another meal to look forward to. Our esteemed Shimon Cohen made a Siyum and therefore we were all able to have delicious meat. Moral of the story we ate, we laughed, we experienced because Yad B’Yad raised us up.
