Day 2: Words Matter
Words matter more than we sometimes realize. The language we choose has the power to make people feel seen, valued, and respected, or excluded and overlooked. A single word can make someone’s day, affirm someone’s identity, validate their experience, and create a sense of belonging, while careless language can unintentionally hurt or isolate someone. Being inclusive doesn’t mean having all the right answers; it means being thoughtful, listening, and willing to learn. When we choose our words with intention and kindness, we help build a community where everyone feels safe to be themselves and confident that they truly belong.
