DAY 10: Tip Tuesday
Tip #2: LOOK 👀 FOR THE GOOD 👍
Inclusion begins with how we see people. So often when we encounter differences, our eyes go straight to what’s “missing,” what’s challenging, or what someone might not be able to do. Even when we actively try to see past them, it’s easy to let limitations define the whole picture. 🥺🥺
Looking for the good requires us to pause and change our perspective. 👓
Every single person brings strengths, joy, resilience, humor, creativity, and insight wherever they are. The very fact that Hashem created every one of us btzelem Elokim, in the image of God, means we each have indescribable value. When we choose to notice those qualities, we move from seeing people as problems to be solved to people to be known and valued. 🤩🤩
A simple way to train yourself to start actively looking for the good is practicing gratitude. 🙏 Keeping a gratitude journal 📓, for example, where you can jot down things both big and small that you feel grateful for scientifically increases your positivity and the way you look at the world. 🫨
Looking for the good is also a mitzvah!! The Torah commands us to judge our friend favorably. In other words: look for the good even when it seems there is none.
When we look for the good, we create a world rooted in dignity, respect, and genuine connection. 🔥We need to remind ourselves that everyone has something meaningful to offer and that belonging starts with being truly seen. So the next time you’re faced with a situation and your mind immediately jumps to a judgmental perspective, challenge yourself. Look for the good. 😎👓😎👓
