Yachad Los Angeles Awareness Event Highlights Services for Developmentally Disabled

More than 75 people showed their support for Yachad Los Angeles, taking advantage of an opportunity to learn about the many programs and services it provides for developmentally disabled adults, while enjoying 360 degree panoramic city views, an exquisite dairy buffet and a special beer and wine tasting.

Yachad Los Angeles’s first-ever awareness event took place on Sunday, March 12th at Mr. C’s Rooftop Ballroom in Beverly Hills. Those in attendance, which included Los Angeles community members and Yachad families and participants, watched a short video showcasing Yachad’s life-changing services and enjoyed a display of original artwork created by 15-year Yachad member Pesach Menkes, whose paintings were completely sold out by the time the event concluded.

Rabbi Adir Posy, the Orthodox Union’s West Coast director, as well as its national director of synagogue initiatives and associate rabbi of Beth Jacob congregation, spoke about the important role that Yachad plays in Los Angeles’s developmentally disabled community. Also highlighting the organization’s contributions were Samantha Cymerint, regional director of Yachad Los Angeles, and Chani Herrmann, associate director of Yachad International, who discussed Yachad’s impact on the local, national and global levels.

“Everyone said it was an elegant and enjoyable event,” said Cymerint. “One thing I hear over and over again from parents is that they are so appreciative of what we have to offer and there is really something for everyone.”

Yachad Los Angeles serves participants in two separate chapters catering to those in the city in the Pico-Robertson area and the Valley. Approximately 25 to 30 individuals currently take part in Yachad Los Angeles programming, with the city chapter holding events on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays nights and every other weekend, and Thursday night activities taking place in the Valley.
